Blog Prompts (#1-4): Due Monday November 18th
“I just think it's important to be direct and honest with people about why you're photographing them and what you're doing. After all, you are taking some of their soul.” ~Mary Ellen Mark
1. This quote is very important to me. It shows how phototgraphers can be; shady or real. I also do believe that it's important for the person you are photographing to be informed why you are doing so. They have every right to know and I think since they are being photographed, they deserve to know the truth.
“My portraits are more about me than they are about the people I photograph.” ~Richard Avedon.
2. This quote really speaks to me because when I photograph, I want to be of what I want or what I'm trying to convey to the audience.
“You don't take a photograph, you make it.” ~Ansel Adams
I believe it's what you do as a photographer to really make the picture.
“All photographs are there to remind us of what we forget. In this - as in other ways - they are the opposite of paintings. Paintings record what the painter remembers. Because each one of us forgets different things, a photo more than a painting may change its meaning according to who is looking at it.” ~John Berger
It's like the quote "a picture paints a thousand words". That's one reason why I go back and look at old photo albums because it brings back a piece of my past.
